One of our favorite things to do is to play cards. We both grew up with families that played cards and have enjoyed connecting with each other over cards and meeting others that play cards. We’ve had some of the best interactions with waiters and waitresses regarding cards (we often get kudos for not just being on our phones, awww…so cute). Recently on the crossing from NYC to Southampton, UK we spent the cruise (on the QM2) learning bridge! Needless to say, we thought it made sense to capture some of the fun here. Up first, some of our favorite card games include:
- Up & Down the River or Oh Hell (find our house rules/variations for Up and Down the River here…)
- Gin Rummy
- Crazy 8s
- Kings Corners
- Dirt―Dirt on Your Neighbor (find our house rules/variations for dirt here…)
- Pinochle―both single and double deck
- Hearts
- We recently are learning bridge and burraco!
- And when you need a cooperative game… we really enjoy The Crew (more on playing it online below)
We mostly play these with actual cards in restaurants or visiting families, but sometimes also enjoy connecting online! And if you need more games… I really like these sites for rules:
- Pagat
- Gamerules
- I always love BGG―BoardGameGeek for cards and reviews
- And for playing online, BoardGameArena is the best!
